Winter’s officially arrived, plummeting temperatures, steaming hot showers, harsh winds and central heating all contribute to Xerosis, or as its more commonly known, Winter Skin. Get ready to do battle with dry, itchy, angry skin with 3 simple tips.
Hydration. Drink plenty of water, after all your skin is made up of 64% water and hydrated skin looks more plump, encourages collagen production, elasticity and regeneration of skin.
Warm Baths and Showers. Ban the burning hot water this winter as the intense heat actually breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin which can lead to loss of moisture.
Moisturise More. The single most important thing you can do for your skin this winter is moisturise. Mornings, evenings, directly after bathing and any other time dryness occurs, and give your hands a hand, the skins thinner and has fewer glands so more susceptible to dryness and itching. Try using a natural moisturising cream with proven skin healing and protecting ingredients like aloe vera, calendula, Shea butter, and, without harsh chemicals, alcohol, perfumes or known irritants that can dry out the skin. We recommend and will be using HydraNure, but then, we are a little bit biased.
